About Allen Central

Allen Central High School was located in the community of Eastern in Floyd County in eastern Kentucky. The school served students from several Floyd County communities and was part of the Floyd County Schools district. Athletics were an important part of the region's culture, particularly basketball in the mountains of eastern Kentucky. The Allen Central Rebels boys basketball team competed in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association and developed local rivalries with nearby Floyd County programs such as Prestonsburg, Betsy Layne, and South Floyd. The school closed in 2020 when Floyd Central High School opened, consolidating several Floyd County schools.
