About Central

Central High School is located in Louisville in Jefferson County, Kentucky. The school opened in 1870 and is one of the oldest public high schools in the state. Historically known for serving African American students during the era of segregated education, Central has a significant place in Louisville's educational history. The Central Yellowjackets boys basketball program competes in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association and has long represented the city's urban basketball tradition.
