About Powell County

Powell County High School is located in Stanton in Powell County, Kentucky in the Red River Gorge region of eastern Kentucky. The school opened in 1960 following consolidation of several smaller schools in the county. The Powell County Pirates boys basketball program competes in the KHSAA representing the rural mountain county.
