Shelby Valley High School is located near Pikeville in Pike County, Kentucky. The school opened in 1990 after the consolidation of Dorton, Virgie, and other Pike County high schools. The Shelby Valley Wildcats boys basketball program competes in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association and represents the communities of eastern Pike County in the Appalachian coalfields.
